Vista - install probem... error (code: 0x80070643)

yesterday my windows live was working perfect, today it refused to work at
all so i uninstalled it and did a reboot and now when i go to do a fresh
install i get the above error, any help please? thanks in advance

If it's going backwards, then it has encountered a serious error and then rolls back the
installation. Since this is a really old thread, instead of writing a small novel about all
the possible things to start checking, it would really be helpful if you could provide what
version you're actually trying to install (that MSI is for 8.5), what Windows version you're
using and any information about what else you've tried.
