Hi,

Just to clarify, which Update Service are you referring to?

Re: Windows live messenger 8.5 fails to install

was the windows update service what had failed as I had a yellow triangle on
the taskbar and when the updates went to install it was coming up with
failed and even with using the windows update from the windows update site
they were failing to install also, as with the windows live installer files
for messenger, mail, photo gallery & writter, they were downloading but failed
to install @ 30% so I had to use the 3 commands below to repair the service
thx

net stop wuauserv
regsvr32.exe %windir%\system32\wups2.dll
net start wuauserv

Re: Windows live messenger 8.5 fails to install

Ah, Gotcha. Among other things, all the Live products are now updated via Microsoft Update
(and opts you into the Microsoft Update service when you install) and which is probably the
reason this would matter. So this makes sense.
