| | Re: How many Frames Per Second in WLM? All depends on your connection & the frames per second and your cam uses, my cam says 15 fps but I'm using a mobile hsdpa broadband connection so the picture breaks up every now and then and jerks, hope that helps "thebigdintexas" <thebigdintexas@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:6E041048-FEDF-4664-A8CB-ABD92EAB9CE0@xxxxxx Quote: > How many frames per second are we able to get in a video chat using > windows > live messenger? |

| | Re: How many Frames Per Second in WLM? Well, I was just wondering if anyone knew the limit of the frames per second in the windows live messenger software....is it 15 F.P.S. maximum, 30 F.P.S.? My internet connection speed isn't the problem, as I have verizon FIOS service at 15 mbps download and 5 mbps upload speed. I have a logitech quickcam communicate stx model webcam which I think is capable of 30 F.P.S., but the video is still slightly choppy and not smooth so I don't think I'm getting that and was wondering if the WLM software was limiting it at 15 F.P.S.. | | Re: How many Frames Per Second in WLM? Greetings, That won't be the frame rate then (which I'm not even sure about at the moment, as the technical specifications for the latest versions have never been released), it's more likely you've just not made a direct connection between yourself and your contact. If you really want to test the camera and Messenger directly, assuming you have more than one PC on the network, just log into the other one and connect to the client on that machine. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "thebigdintexas" <thebigdintexas@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:B549280D-0E81-46D6-B1BC-06DFCA2A2325@xxxxxx Quote: > Well, I was just wondering if anyone knew the limit of the frames per second > in the windows live messenger software....is it 15 F.P.S. maximum, 30 F.P.S.? > My internet connection speed isn't the problem, as I have verizon FIOS > service at 15 mbps download and 5 mbps upload speed. | | Re: How many Frames Per Second in WLM? I am connected to the internet through a router, and this is what my connection says in WLM: You are directly connected to .NET Messenger Service. You are connected to the Internet through wired network connection. You are connected to the Internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. | | Re: How many Frames Per Second in WLM? Hi, You should be good to go then, although it still is possible that a software firewall on your end is blocking the video connection. Additionally, it still could be your contacts' problem if they have a restrictive firewall or networking situation as well. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "thebigdintexas" <thebigdintexas@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5C310C56-4CC3-4C9C-97D7-13CCD2B7B643@xxxxxx Quote: > I am connected to the internet through a router, and this is what my > connection says in WLM: > > You are directly connected to .NET Messenger Service. > > You are connected to the Internet through wired network connection. > > You are connected to the Internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. | | Re: How many Frames Per Second in WLM? It could be the specs on my computer causing the video to not be so smooth also..running vista business 32-bit on a intel pentium 4 @ 3 GHz w/hyper-threading, 2GB of DDR 400 ram and an AGP nvidia 7600GS graphics card. McAfee anti-virus and windows defender running in background too. I imagine an up to date dual core or quad core, DDR2 memory, and a pci-e graphics card would yield better video quality? | | Re: How many Frames Per Second in WLM? Hi, Although I admit Messenger video can be demanding, assuming you're not using anything else that's too demanding on the CPU, that should be fine. For instance, webcam (no audio) on my P4 1.8Ghz also running Vista and 5700LE is smooth. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "thebigdintexas" <thebigdintexas@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:2B568E6F-1ABB-410F-90BD-83D1EC33985F@xxxxxx Quote: > It could be the specs on my computer causing the video to not be so smooth > also..running vista business 32-bit on a intel pentium 4 @ 3 GHz > w/hyper-threading, 2GB of DDR 400 ram and an AGP nvidia 7600GS graphics card. > McAfee anti-virus and windows defender running in background too.
