| | Custom emoticon store location in Vista? Hi I copied my folder of emoticons from my old laptop and would like to copy them on to my new laptop. Old laptop - XP, new laptop - Vista = can't find a thing, grrrrrrrrr! It used to be in local settings, user, microsoft, messenger, etc - there isn't a local settings folder now so where are these stored? Thanks in advance Rachel |

| | Re: Custom emoticon store location in Vista? Greetings Rachel, Actually if you type the full XP path into Vista's run or Explorer, it will take you to the correct location. However, you cannot browse there as it's locked down to prevent applications that don't follow junctions properly. Regardless though, the ObjectStore in Vista is located in: \Users\username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live ID e-mail address. Like XP, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools, then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'. After click OK, they should appear with the other folders. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Rachel" <Rachel@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:7108919A-44A1-4857-AF7D-7066B2796017@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi > > I copied my folder of emoticons from my old laptop and would like to copy > them on to my new laptop.
