| | two questions hello! is there any way to make WLM open HOTMAIL, rather than OUTLOOK when I "check mail" via WLM? the old windows messenger made it easy to send files or photos, thru the menu GUI at top. does WLM have any similar option, or at least an easy way to send files or photos? thanks for any enlightenment!! | | Re: two questions Greetings Gary, Windows Live Messenger will open Hotmail if you're using an @hotmail, @msn, or @live Windows Live ID e-mail address. If you use any other address, it will take you to your default e-mail program. However, you could change your default e-mail program to be Hotmail in Windows'/Internet Explorer Internet Options, but you may not want to do that since it affects everything. There are two file transfer mechanisms in Windows Live Messenger, the "normal" file transfer from Windows Messenger and Shared Folders. Assuming you want to use the former, you can right-click on contacts in the contact list to send a file, open up a conversation window and choose the toolbar icon at the top (assuming it's not hidden), or simply drag a file into where you would normally type text to be sent. The toolbar icon to send a file is the second one listed (assuming you're using a standard left-to-right language) at the top. If you do not see this toolbar, press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, choose Tools, then Show toolbars and finally make sure that Standard is selected. If it is not, click on it to make it appear. Additionally, you can send files when this menu is shown from the File menu. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "TELUS NEWS" <zonealarm@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:TwFqk.8394$nu6.2470@xxxxxx Quote: > hello! > > is there any way to make WLM open HOTMAIL, rather than OUTLOOK when I "check mail" via WLM? > > the old windows messenger made it easy to send files or photos, thru the menu GUI at top. > does WLM have any similar option, or at least an easy way to send files or photos? > > thanks for any enlightenment!! > > Gary > |
