Tray icon stays after exiting msn

After I exit msn the icon stays in the system tray until I mouse over it. Kind of like when an app is forced to exit. Not a major problem but I'd like to know if there's a fix for it.

Thanks

Re: Tray icon stays after exiting msn

Greetings,

In some cases, Messenger might actually be crashing when it's exciting , or a third-party
Messenger tool you have running might be closing Messenger oddly. In most cases it's pretty
safe to ignore.

In a standard environment though, the icon is removed as expected, it's not an actual known
bug or anything.

Jonathan,

It is a known bug...I dont know why you say its not considering its been listed multiple times on the Microsoft Connect site, I myself have the same issue where messenger stays in the tray after exiting and occurs in each any only 9.0 and 9.1 Beta Messengers offered to Microsoft Butterfly`s...It was reported some months ago but has yet to be resolved since they are busy releasing Wave 3

It only affects the Beta messengers and also patched messengers.

I'm just using the one that installs from the WLinstaller which I downloaded from the ninemsn site. I doubt the version I'm using would be beta?

Re: Tray icon stays after exiting msn

Well it's non-repro. But "by the book" anyway, this shouldn't be discussed here, so best if
this thread ends now.

Re: Tray icon stays after exiting msn

Hi,

Well, just out of curiosity, which version of Messenger are you using anyway?

Re: Tray icon stays after exiting msn

Mine does the same thing. Even after a fresh Vista install. Live messenger
works fine, but sometimes the tray icon disappears when I exit it and
sometimes (actually most) times it doesn't; until I mouse over it.
