| | Re: windows live installation. need help please!!!! Greetings Andy, I'm not quite sure what you're doing with this reinstallation, but that won't correct the problem. Usually what you're describing is caused by some bad firmware in a residential router. If that is the case, try resetting it by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Failing that, you may want to look and see if there is a firmware update from the router's manufacturer that may help the problem and/or you may want to reset the device to factory defaults. Failing all that, you may want to see if there is a web-based configuration to turn off UPnP (Universal Plug and Play). This will limit you in some ways connectivity-wise (you may not be able to establish direct file transfers, webcam, etc.) but this is probably the reason why you're seeing not function when you're connected. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "andy" <andy@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1A14B0FF-53A8-48DE-B623-5279CF9F9775@xxxxxx Quote: > i have windows vista, and i dont know if this is a common problem but, for > the last few days everytime ive tried open windows live messenger, ive > doubleclicked the icon, but it doesnt even open the window or anything. so > ive tried to repair it,, but it didnt work, so i uninstalled it thinking it > would work properly if i re-installed it. now everytime i try to re-install > it, it comes up with "this link needs to be launched with an application, > choose application" but i dont know what application to choose!! its really > really frustrating me. please can anyone help? x |
