New Windows Live Betas - Download Wave 3 Now!

(My comment: I just installed the live suite, but not all of it. The movie
maker live seemed too limited to me and I didn't want the toolbar and
parenting program. But as far as I can see, live mail and the messenger and
writer are very good, stable etc. They also fixed the colors of the toolbars
in live writer and live mail, so that's a plus. The messenger seems a little
awkward, perhaps its not streamlined yet since this is still a beta. I will
use the new calendar for sure along with the new outlook plugin, in fact I
was looking for such a thing recently!!!
So you see to all your naysayers... I welcome change and new things, as long
as they are good. This is in contrast with vista that was crap.. and now has
slightly improved so its bearable with SP1 )

New Windows Live Betas - Download Wave 3 Now! (Updated With International
Goodness)

With the Windows Live Wave 3 beta due to start today, we thought we'd
provide our readers with a small headstart on the rest of the world. Here's
the download links for the new Wave 3 suite of applications, including
Messenger v9, Windows Live Movie Maker, Mail with Calendar synchronisation,
Writer, Photo Gallery, Family Safety and the Outlook Connector. For the
paranoid amongst you, yes the files are hosted on download.microsoft.com.

Re: New Windows Live Betas - Download Wave 3 Now!

Just to add to this. Please remember that this is beta software. There is no
guarantee that this is stable, all the features will work as expected etc.
Please use at your own risk. That saying, it should give you a good idea of
what changes have been made to WLM.

Re: New Windows Live Betas - Download Wave 3 Now!

I installed the new version this morning. I like the new messenger design.

Only problem Ive encountered is that my favorites button is missing from the toolbar. Its not listed in options either.

Re: New Windows Live Betas - Download Wave 3 Now!

installed and works OK so far.

However, the Message Header is still huge. Why can't that be made like it
was in OE. Also the find message bar is even bigger now and can't be hidden.
I think these were features requested by many user and were not addresses.

Please give us more customization. I'm using Windows Live mail with a 12.1"
Laptop so I don't want this huge message header or find message search take
away precious screen real estate.

Otherwise I do really like Windows Live mail as it works great.

Colin, Good warning, but you forget to mention the biggest buggiest most
bloated piece of software ever made: Vista is at SP1 and still there is no
guarantee its stable.. in fact the chances are that it will be unstable! lol

Since vista, MS quality has gone down the drain... since everything after
the vista era is of beta quality, another beta wouldn't harm that much.. lol

I rarely install "beta" software. I made an unusual exception for Windows
Live Mail desktop, for the Hotmail client access, but the current WLM
12.0.1606 (yes, I know: No "desktop" in the name, now!) works well enough,
so I will leave well enough alone, thank you,

Vista has shown no sign of instability on any system I have seen it running
on. Nor is it listed by MSFT as still being in "Beta". Weak on hardware
driver support, though; as was XP in its earliest incarnation of full
release. I have an HP ScanJet 6300C; no Vista driver support. I either pitch
it for a newer scanner, or stay at Windows XP. Economics dictates the
latter.
