Windows Live won't install on Windows Server 2008

I'm running Windows Server 2008 on my workstation (for a variety of reasons
that aren't important), and the Windows Live unified installer refuses to run
because it's "only supported on Windows XP and Windows Vista" - not that it
won't work, but it's not supported.

I don't care if it's not supported, and arbitrary blocking of the installer
is not polite - let me install it and deal with the consequences!

(not that their would be - I manually extracted the MSI's from another
computer and installed them with no issue for the previous versions of the
suite.)

Please, if you can't change the installer (which I can understand), just
post links direct to the MSI's with a huge "THIS IS NOT SUPPORTED AND WE WILL
NOT HELP YOU IF YOU DO THIS!!!!(!!!)" banner.

Thanks you.

Re: Windows Live won't install on Windows Server 2008

Greetings,

I installed it from the MSIs on my server too. No specific issues that I can tell to the
Server OS and I've been using it all day.

However, this isn't new, the previous Live Installer didn't allow Server OSs either or XP
64-bit. Of course, Messenger ran fine.

The official word from Microsoft on this is that they would not be distributing the MSIs --
it's up to the community. Luckily they're digitally signed so at least you know it's not
been modified with malware.

Re: Windows Live won't install on Windows Server 2008

I tried to find the msi file so that I could install this new version on Windows Server 2008 x86. I did it successfully with the older version. However, I could not find the file. Where to look, please? When I did a search, I found only the msi file for the older version 9 Messenger, not the new one.
