Windows Live Messenger Wave 3 Suggestions and testing

    WinIcons:
    - Number of emails on mail icon not matching.
    - Signed out icon UGLY
    - Peeling page effect should not disappear when mouse is moving towards it.
    (Double animation).
    - Paint brush icons shows BEFORE page peels
    - Blocked Icon and offline icon unclear
    - Favourite’s icon does not seem to match.
    - History icons need to match new messenger
    UI Contact List:
    - Top bar should be transparent so that image background shows through
    - Lower nickname bar one line so that it can be widened.
    - Lower the message bar one line so that it’s in line with the mail icon.
    - I love the pop up transparent side bar, however it does not match the
    over-all layout.
    - Corner should NOT peel when mousing over mail.
    - What’s new is a great concept but needs to be refined.
o When there is an image, the right margin is greater than the left margin
o “What’s new” text and left right buttons are too big
o No way of scrolling if someone has long update.
o No way of seeing what’s new if someone has a long name
    - Favourite’s idea is great. Love the customizability. (Being able to remove
it if I don’t want it, choosing the size of the display pic shown if any)
    - Arrow tabs too close to the left margin
    - After expanding the side tabs, then reducing it, it should set the window
    width as it was.
    - Search box could be a bit thinner in height.
Currently feels like Messenger 7.5, 8, and Vista are all combined , no
    consistency.
    UI Conversation:
    - Top bar should be transparent so that image background shows through
    - Lower nickname bar one line so that it can be widened.
    - Lower the message bar one line so that it’s in line with the mail icon.
    - I love the pop up transparent side bar, however it does not match the
    over-all layout.
    - Corner should NOT peel when mousing over mail.
    - A light divider should be shown between avatar and conversation for
unification (Just as there is a light divider bar between the type box and
    the message window)
    - Out glow of name and status too strong in both dark and light backgrounds.
    - Option to reduce font size?
    - Glowing button which shows the toolbar should be fixed since it cuts off
    suddenly (graphically).
    - Selecting a colour other than the default is not attractive, nor does it
    blend well.
    - Bring back send button (or option to add it)
    - The bullet point after a grouped conversation should be faded out as it’s
    too strong at the moment.
    - Too big of a gap if user has nickname only.

    Other:
    - Clicking any msn conversation gets ALL of them to show up (if they are not
    minimized)
    - No new message sound in a group conversation
    - Sign in screen is no longer appealing nor matching.
    - Contact card needs to match new UI

    Issues:
    - Custom emoticons no longer display when sending. They can be seen though.
    - If someone posts a large emoticon, it is cut and only a portion can be
seen unless it is followed by another conversation. For example, someone
sends large emoticon. Only half shows. If I type something or the sender
types something, the emoticon is then shown properly.
    - Call function was not working, kept taking me to the intro screen and
asking me to tick a box to create a desktop shortcut. UI did not match.
    - People seeing strange characters instead of far east and Arabic characters
in my nickname. This is between Windows Live 8.5 and 9 wave 3.
    - Compared to Skype, it feels like webchat is too laggy. I don’t understand
    why.

    Love
    - Tabs in the Messenger List are in the right place
    - Nice simple Mail icon
    - Custom dynamic display pictures!
    - Custom sign in sound!
    - Animated displays
    - Option to hide offline contacts
    - Ability to sign in on more than one place
    - Smooth animation

    Suggestions:
    - Drag a user into conversation window adds him to the conversation.
    - Organize by status (so all online shown, then away, then busy etc..
    - Option to set Online, Busy and Away colours?
    - Perhaps a ‘status’ box, so that if someone signs in using the same
username at a different place, it leaves a message saying so. Like a form of
tracking and keeping the ‘main’ pc aware.
    - Option to launch Windows Live Mail or IE Hotmail instead. (At the moment
if you have Windows Live Mail it launches that by default).
    - Option to hide ‘Groups’ group.

Over all I feel like there have been some very nice features but the UI is
simply not to my taste or standard. I feel as if 8.5’s design looked better.
I also hope that there will be an attempt to highlight the new features.
