Remote Assistance Problem

Greetings to the group.
I'm trying to help a friend through the remote assistance component
in Windows Messenger 4.7 (4.7.3001).
My OS is Win XP Media Center Edition SP2
The novice pc is Win XP Home Edition SP2

The error is "a remote assistance connection could not be established. You
may want to check for network issues or determine if the invitation expired.
............"

Both machines are running the Windows firewall.
The messaging works fine. I also get the invitation
for remote assistance, but after accepting the invitation
I get the error noted above.

Thank you for any help.

John
