Contact List Layout. Label Contacts By...

I like to see who my contacts are and usually it's hard to do so with my
contacts cryptic display names, so I like my contacts labeled by their first
and last name.
However when I apply this option it is indeed applied to the contact names
in my contact list, but the next time I sign in they're reset to their
display names.
I then go to "Change contact list layout" and notice that "Label contacts
by" is still set to First and Last Name while the contacts are clearly
labeled by display names.

Is anyone else having this problem and is it a known issue?

Re: Contact List Layout. Label Contacts By...

Hi All,

I am having the same issue as Jonathan and I am also running the same
version of Windows Live Messenger BETA - Version 2009 Build 14.0.5027.908.

When I first noticed the issue I was running a patch on Messenger (A-Patch
1.42b3 for Windows Live Messenger 9.0 Wave 3). I uninstalled the patch,
uninstalled Messenger then reinstalled a clean version of Messenger.
Unfortunately this had no effect on the issue.

The only work around I have found is:
Within Messenger open Options > Layout
Change the "Label contacts by" field back to "Display name"
Click Apply
Then change the field back to "First and last name".

However as Jonathan advised after signing out of Messenger the contact list
will revert back to showing the contacts by the display name.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, and have not experienced this
issue with any previous versions of Messenger. I understand that this is a
BETA version and will have some bugs. However I would prefer to keep this
version of Messenger installed rather than reverting back to a previous
version.
If anyone else has also experienced this issue or has any fixes for this
problem I would be greatly appreciative.

Kind Regards,
Dane
