| | Re: windows live messenger pop up Greetings, When you go to Hotmail, it calls Messenger to determine the status of your Hotmail contacts. Normally the most you should see is Messenger just starting in the notification area if you're not already signed-in. However, I believe what you're describing is the Windows Installer popping up attempting to "repair" Messenger which can happen for a variety of reasons. The easiest and most painless way to fix this is to simply uninstall Windows Live Messenger from the Control Panel and then reinstall it. You won't lose any your Messenger settings or data (like emoticons/history/et al) by doing this. It pops up almost everytime when i try to open an email (it will not let me do anything to the email until it finish loading everytime -__-)and it has been bothering me enormously.
