| | Re: An error after open Windows Live Messenger Greetings, Messenger loads a variety of web pages using an integrated Internet Explorer control. If something is blocking JavaScript within IE windows (as a "security feature") or an error is being encountered in the JavaScript code itself (for instance, some of the advertisements in Messenger occasionally cause difficulties), you will receive a message like this. Unfortunately actually locating what's causing this is a rather complicated process which is nearly impossible to deal with over the phone or here on the newsgroup. That said, this message is harmless and simply choosing No should allow things to continue. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Ma_Luisa_P" <maluisap@xxxxxx(donotspam)> wrote in message news:F23A7646-BF53-4404-BF6B-5D4BC025A018@xxxxxx Quote: > every time when I open Windows Live Messenger (WLM) It appear a window and > says: > "An error has occurred in the script on this page. > > Line: 1 > Char: 30276 > Error: 'a' is null or not an objetct > Code: 0 > URL: http://tk2.stj.s-msn.com/br/tdy/js/24/en-us.js > > > Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? > > Yes No" > > I contact help from Gateway and tell me to unninstalled WLM but I'm not so > sure to do that I have some features that I download from a few websites I > don't want to loose that. | | Re: An error after open Windows Live Messenger Yes but you must have it enabled by clicking on the icon on the right hand side of the paintbrush and then selecting and ticking 'show the menu bar' Once you have done that then right at the top of the messenger window should be the following choices, File,Contact,Actions,Tools and Help. (Above your picture.) Now click in Tools and then Options, then choose the second choice of Layout. The top choice is General and in that just untick Show the what's new list. Then click on Apply at the bottom of this window and then OK. "Ma_Luisa_P" wrote: Quote: > Hi thanks 4 your help Jonathan Kay and Sandra Large. | | Re: An error after open Windows Live Messenger You are missing out the LAYOUT choice which is under personal. Click on Layout, then you will see GENERAL at the top of the choices and three seperate choices in that, Show the tab bar, Show favourites and Show the what's new list. Untick the show the what's new list. All these settings are in Layout.
