| | Messenger Sign in Error 81000451 Hi - We're getting quite a few reports of users not being able to sign into Messenger due to this error. We're tracking the bug and it will be fixed in the final release. We're also working on how to fix it for current users who have gotten into this state. In the meanwhile, to prevent this from happening, do not block, then leave a Group. Thanks for your patience with this. Brian Windows Live Contacts Platform Team |

| | Re: Messenger Sign in Error 81000451 We've been notified about additional steps that cause this bug - if you block an empty group you could end up in this state as well. To recap, you can end up locked out of WLMessenger Beta if you do the following: a) Put a group on the block list b) Leave the group c) Sign-out d) Sign-in will fail OR a) Blocking an empty group. We're working on fixing this for users that are already in this state. | | Re: Messenger Sign in Error 81000451 It started right after I played around with categories. I created a category, then i deleted it. I signed out and tried to sign in again, but it failed with this error. | | Re: Messenger Sign in Error 81000451 unfortunately you only have two options: 1. uninstall and install a previous version of Messenger (8.5). 2. Use http://webmessenger.msn.com/ Sorry for the inconvenience but we will have this fixed in the final release of Messenger! Cheers. Nick H. Windows Live Test Team. | | RE: Messenger Sign in Error 81000451 Ok, I think the question now is: when are we going to see the final release? Do you guys have this issue solved already? Did you find the bottom of the problem and the solution of it? What is going on right now? It's terrible to see that the official "inside windows live messenger" blog doesn't give us any updated information. That is so annoying. |

| | RE: Well, I think we all know that's the issue. Once we block a group and leave it, we can't sign in again, so we can't do anything. That's why I suggested somewhere else that all things regarding our accounts should be accessible through our Live account page, let's say, our Space. There should be a place, a web page, where we could manage our e-mails, our messenger settings, *everything*, so we would not depend upon a software working or not. If that thing existed, we could unblock that group blocked before. | | RE: Messenger Sign in Error 81000451 Is there any way you can individually fix accounts. I need mine for business use and I thought that by downloading the new messenger I would never have problems as it is upto date. Is there anything you can do or not? I was reading the idea that we can manage everything to do with our own accounts. This seems like a good idea... I would even volunteer to work for microsoft fixing accounts if you told me how. It is really frustrating when nothing works. Regards Tom |
