| | Old pictures and text shown in 'what's new' in the 9 Beta A few of my friends have told me that some of my old pictures and messages are appearing for them in the new version of messenger under the 'what's new' section. I entered the content with an earlier version of messenger that didn't have this historical record, so was a bit disturbed really to hear that there was a new beta displaying content about me that I had changed because I didn't want anyone to see it anymore. I can't actually see what's being shown about me as my changes aren't included in the what's new section. How do I ensure that the old display pictures and text no longer show up for other users? |

| | Re: Old pictures and text shown in 'what's new' in the 9 Beta Greetings Craig, I'm afraid the processing for the What's new section is done on the server-side. I know your next question is why-- one reason is so that when you sign in you have info. As such, it shows out-of-date information on a regular basis. There isn't anything you can do to "clear" what other people are seeing. If you put something in your PSM for instance, even if you clear it or change it something else, the what's new section will probably still show it for awhile -- especially if your contact doesn't have that many contacts. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Craig" <Craig@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:58AFA5FF-3787-453C-9790-854C24E1012C@xxxxxx Quote: > A few of my friends have told me that some of my old pictures and messages > are appearing for them in the new version of messenger under the 'what's new' > section. > > I entered the content with an earlier version of messenger that didn't have > this historical record, so was a bit disturbed really to hear that there was > a new beta displaying content about me that I had changed because I didn't > want anyone to see it anymore. > > I can't actually see what's being shown about me as my changes aren't > included in the what's new section. > > How do I ensure that the old display pictures and text no longer show up for > other users? |
