| | Re: WLM Get faultcode: Windows Live Communication Platform has stoped working Greetings Masse, Has it -ever- worked, or has it been like this from the beginning? As a stab in the dark, you might try removing your contact cache store which can sometimes cause all sorts of weird problems (and it's cached on the server anyway, so you don't lose any data). You do this by pressing the Windows key and R together on the keyboard to bring up the Run box, typing in: %userprofile%\local settings\application data\microsoft and click OK. Then find the Windows Live Contacts folder and delete it. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Masse Borglund" <masse.borglund65@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:4AA7B155-4456-4524-9709-025E01FA11B0@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi! > > Evrerytime I try to start WLM 9 Beta i get a faultcode: Windows Live Communication Platform > has stoped working. | | Re: WLM Get faultcode: Windows Live Communication Platform has stoped working Hi Masse. This could be because you have a mismatched version of the dlls on your machine. I would try this: 1. uninstall the current Beta. 2. make sure all files / directories under c:\program files\windows live\... are gone or empty, especially the "contacts" directory. 3. re-install the beta. if you continue to find this issue happening I'd love to see your event IDs (instructions below). Thanks! Nick H Windows Live Test Team If on Vista In the search bar in the start menu type 'problem' Select 'Problem Reports and Solutions' Click on View Problem History Sort by Date. In the Windows Live Communications Platform group select the most recent one. If it does not say report sent, right click and choose "Check for solutions". This will send a report and change the status to report sent. Then double click the event, copy any information that you see there and send it to us. Information that we are looking for are: Problem signature Problem Event Name: Application Name: Application Version: Application Timestamp: Fault Module Name: Fault Module Version: Fault Module Timestamp: Exception Code: Exception Offset: OS Version: Locale ID: Additional Information 1: Additional Information 2: Additional Information 3: Additional Information 4: Extra information about the problem Bucket ID: If the above steps do not work, then follow the instructions for XP. It should work for Vista too If you are on XP Click Start Click Run Type eventvwr.msc You might see a large list of events Go to View -> Filter In Event Types check only Error. Uncheck everything else. In Event Source select Windows Live Communications Platform. Click OK. You event view should now only have Windows Live Communications Platform errors. Sort by Date Open the most recent event by double clicking on it. Note down the following: Event ID Copy and paste any description text. Select the text, Press Ctrl+C, Open Notepad or Email client, Press Ctrl+V "Masse Borglund" <masse.borglund65@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:7884B50F-BC02-4792-8200-E08C4256614C@xxxxxx Quote: > Tried removing contacts folder to but didnt work... any more ideas? > > "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" <msnewsreplies@xxxxxx> skrev i meddelandet > news:exnZv48OJHA.4576@xxxxxx Quote: >> Greetings Masse, >> >> Has it -ever- worked, or has it been like this from the beginning? >> >> As a stab in the dark, you might try removing your contact cache store >> which can sometimes cause all sorts of weird problems (and it's cached on >> the server anyway, so you don't lose any data). | | Re: WLM Get faultcode: Windows Live Communication Platform has stoped working Greetings, That saver1.dll referenced in your crash data has been identified sometimes as some known malware (it appears it also can be legitimate too). This may be the cause of your problem (regardless if it's malware or not). You may want to scan your entire drive for the file and see what it belongs to, then uninstall that application or if it's something you can't identify, use an antispyware tool like Windows Defender or simply rename it and reboot to see if the problem is corrected. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "jmix90" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:7b2d71b2abae2c0747f35b1bf464b46a@xxxxxx-gateway.com...
