Some drivers do not exist for the x64 version of Vista. Also "all"
drivers have to be digital signed.

Re: Going to Vista 64Bit

Greetings,

Messenger will work fine of course, but runs as a 32-bit application.

Besides the drivers though, another possible thing to look out for is 16-bit applications, as they're no longer supported. Also if you have certain shell extensions you might depend on in explorer (or codecs), you'll need 64-bit versions for them to work within the 64-bit Explorer.

As for tricks, one thing you should be aware of is that "system32" contains the 64-bit windows executables/libraries and "syswow64" contains the 32-bit ones. A tad confusing, but something to be aware of depending on what you do with your PC.

Re: Going to Vista 64Bit

Wow, thanks a lot for that very valuable information Jonathan. I really appreciate it. Am getting a whole new computer setup and just wanted to make sure of things. I guess you could call it "paranoia". LOL

Re: Going to Vista 64Bit

I think you should upgrade to a 1.5TB drive with all that!
