Vista - Constantly Telling me no searches match

I don't even know where to start with the problem, but about every 5 minutes
the wlm opens saying no contacts match my search, despite the fact that i
haven't searched for any contacts. It seems like it's set to some automatic
search function but i can't find anything which would control this. I've ran
virus scans, all of those come back clean. This started a few days ago,
haven't downloaded anything. Any thoughts?

Greetings,

So basically what you're saying is that the main Messenger window opens on its own and 'No
contacts were found' is displayed in the window? Is there anything in the actual search
field?

Also, just out of curiosity, is this the current released version of Windows Live Messenger
(8.5) or the new 2009 beta?
