| | IM address import not populating in WLM So, I put some friends' Windows Live ID e-mail addresses in the IM address field in Outlook 2007 then imported all of my contacts into Windows Live Hotmail (because I can't get Outlook Connector to automatically sync...it just says Contact: Connecting, but that's a well documented problem here). My question is this: Why don't any of these contacts show at the top of my contact list in WLM (to indicate that it recognizes their Windows Live ID)? I can manually add them by right-clicking and selecting Edit Contact, but shouldn't WLM already know the WL ID? Thanks, Adam |

| | Re: IM address import not populating in WLM Ah, I see the problem now, when I import Contacts from Outlook using Outlook Connector (which seems to be working now), the IM address field populates the "Other instant messaging address" on WLM's Contact tab instead of the "Instant Messaging Address" on the General tab. Basically, it assumes the IM address is not a Windows Live Messenger IM address. Does that sound right? Ideally, this would be selectable in Outlook (e.g. check box for "this is a Windows Live ID") "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" wrote: Quote: > Hi, > > Under Edit Contact if it's a Messenger available contact - otherwise, how are you adding > them? > > -- > Jonathan Kay > Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger > MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger > MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com > Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com > (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation > -- > > > "afgoody" <afgoody@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:F6E2C15A-2EB4-45EB-9C6B-D1667CD79C1E@xxxxxx Quote: > > Jonathan, > > Where is that option located? | | Re: IM address import not populating in WLM With the new Outlook Connector you would assume the IM field wil be recognised as the WLM Address field. Is this field going to be released soon? it makes things so much easier! -- filling in the gabs "afgoody" wrote: Quote: > Ah, I see the problem now, when I import Contacts from Outlook using Outlook > Connector (which seems to be working now), the IM address field populates the > "Other instant messaging address" on WLM's Contact tab instead of the > "Instant Messaging Address" on the General tab.
