| | Signing into Hotmail account through messenger Hello I'm using the new beta of Windows Live Messenger and I'm having trouble checking my mail. Whenever I get a new email messenger alerts me. When I click the new mail message it open then MSN.COM page instead of going directly to my Inbox. the same thing happen when I click the new mail from the menu, or from the mail screen. Anyone knows how to fix it? Or is it just a beta problem? Thanks in advance Dror |

Or is it just a beta problem? popup only go to the MSN main page. One can make it to Hotmail via web links in subsequent pages (like MSN), but what a pain for this to not be fixed for several weeks, and that we haven't been given a site to report this and other problems. Perhaps the term 'beta' should be done away with as most untechnical folk think it just means 'free'. Last night (19th) I got a prompt to update Live Messenger, and proceeded to let it attempt to download and update, tried three times, then went to bed. Since then, it can't sign into Messenger and any attempt pops back with a dialog that doesn't pop out in front of whatever you're doing - you have to navigate to it to see what it is: Error 80002004 - not responding. If you've gotten mail in Hotmail, and click on the menued link (right-click from the taskbar), you get a browser window that makes it look as if you haven't signed in, if the WL Toolbar is supposed to be of any use. When one clicks on the Sign In part of the toolbar it indeed does so, but not to mail. You have to then do one of two things to get to Hotmail: 1. Close the IE window and start again using the right-click Messenger menu for messages. If you've hit Sign In before closing the previous browser window, it will finally get to Hotmail's inbox. 2. Manually (and redundantly) type in your username/password AGAIN and continue to Hotmail (it seems doing the Sign In and refreshing the page doesn't correlate either). 3. Click on the "Mail" item in the toolbar in IE, wait for the popup window to appear, click on Goto my Inbox. Also at times the right-click menu item will not correctly report the number of unread messages present in Hotmail. This is similar to the error involving display of unread messages at the Windows XP Signon screen.
