Vista - Major Issue Regarding Windows Live Messenger build 14.0.8050.1202!

I've recently downloaded the latest version of Windows Live, and whenever I
try to sign into Messenger, this error window appears, declaring:

Windows Live Communications Platform has stopped working.

I'm wondering, why is this the case? After all, this isn't classified as a
BETA version of the software, so how is this happening?

Just in case, I run Windows Vista.

Out of curiosity, did you use the previous beta as well? Regardless, as a starting point at
least, head over to your Windows Live Contacts cache folder and delete it as there's a small
possibility that's what's causing the crash.

The folder can be found by clicking Start, and typing in:
%appdata%\..\local\Microsoft
and hitting Enter. Then find the Windows Live Contacts folder and send it to the recycle
bin.

Alternatively you can just navigate over to \Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft and find
the folder there. Where username is your Windows username naturally. You'll need to show
hidden files to navigate to it however, to do so press the Alt key on the keyboard in any
Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools, then Folder Options, then the
View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'.

I've tried what you suggested, and no, the problem remains as it was. There
must be something that I can do, as I'm sure that I've read other threads
regarding this issue, and I'm certain that I'm not alone on this one. Please

I have the same problem too! I tried changing themes, deleting Windows Live Contacts over and over again, restarted computer, but nothing seems to solve the problem!! Im using vista home premium 32bit.
