Re: no sound for video calls or sending nudges, what about winks or other sounds in
Messenger? Assuming there is no sound at all, I suspect Messenger may had been muted or
turned down. You can check on this by attempting to make some sounds on Messenger, then
click on the sound icon in the notification area (by the clock) and choose Mixer. When the
Volume Mixer appears, on the applications side, make sure Messenger (look for the icon) is
turned up and not muted.
As for the emoticons, it's possible you hit the key combination accidently which turned them
off. This happens to me personally from time to time too. To turn them back on, open up any
Messenger conversation window, press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar,
click the Tools menu and make sure Show emoticons has a checkmark next to it. If it doesn't,
simply select it. After this, close all conversation windows and reopen them to see the
change.
