Hand writing doesn't work

Hi at all...
I have a problem with Windows Live Messenger 8.5 and 9... the hand writing doesn't work!
When I click on the symbol to activate it WLM doesn't respond to anything... after 1 minute WLM re-works but not the hand writing...
My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and time ago it works fine!
Can someone explain me why doesn't it work?
Thanks in advance!
