Try uninstalling and reinstalling it and save the setup file to the desktop and right click on it, click run as administrator.

Re: Error code 8007007E

There are some days since no one post replies to this topic, so I guess the problem was fixed. But I want to give it my contribution anyway.

I installed WLM9 succesfully but when I tried to remove and return to 8.5 I had a problem. Then I used ZapMessenger and left the system with 8.5 again. Now I tried to reinstall WLM9 and i was getting the 8007007e error code. Here's what I did:

1. Run "sfc /scannow" and restart the computer;
2. Uninstall WLM9 with ZapMessenger;
3. Donwload and install Windows Installer Cleanup Utility for vista;
4. Run the utility, select all itens concerning Windows Live and remove them;
5. Run WLM9 installer again.

This worked beautifully to me. I hope it can help!

Hi Ed,

If the Communications Platform is crashing (as per your other post), you'll see this error as
without that platform component, it can't do anything with contacts and therefore can't log
you in.

If this is linked, I assume it is (that or you have multiple machines with multiple
problems).

The solution could be reinstalling:
Windows Live Communications Platform
Microsoft Application Error Reporting (32-bit)
Microsoft Application Error Reporting (64-bit)
Microsoft Visual Studio Runtime

FYI - this worked for me...

Jonathan Kay was so kind to post an how to with links to the software here:
