| | Re: How to stop messenger opening mail in internet explorer Greetings, Only using Internet Explorer can Microsoft guarantee that your Windows Live ID credentials are safely "sent" to the browser and that is why IE is used exclusively for opening Hotmail from Messenger. However, using Stuffplug (www.stuffplug.com), you can elect to have it open in your default browser. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "sarahandscott28" <sarahandscott28@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:40CB7ACD-40D5-4766-8EAA-B16F047DBC4F@xxxxxx Quote: > We recently changed from Internet explorer to using Mozilla Firefox. | | Re: How to stop messenger opening mail in internet explorer That's a weird thing to say, especially considering the latest big security flaw in IE, a couple of weeks ago. Some safety, huh? | | Re: How to stop messenger opening mail in internet explorer Hi, It is some security actually. If you look at the numbers of security issues over the past two years for every major browser, I think you'll find that IE has been more than secure, especially for the dominant browser in the world. But anyway, feel free to take it to the IE newsgroups, this is off topic for here. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Dess Cates" <DessCates@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:50C0CDE8-8216-49E3-AEFE-33C59AACFABC@xxxxxx Quote: > That's a weird thing to say, especially considering the latest big security > flaw in IE, a couple of weeks ago. | | Re: How to stop messenger opening mail in internet explorer [Crosspost to IE General] Even if you've made FF your default browser, accessing your Hotmail account via Messenger should not crash IE. If it does, it's indicative of some serious Windows issues. Did you switch to FF because of these crashes? NB: When replying to this post, please state your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1). -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ sarahandscott28 wrote: Quote: > We recently changed from Internet explorer to using Mozilla Firefox.
