Why does WLMessenger (application and Process) insist on loading when one
opens a spaces.live.com page?

After this happens, why does the (Task Manager) Process MSNMSGR.EXE persist
after exiting (closing) WLMessenger?

Why does exiting WLMessenger and ending the Process MSNMSGR.EXE then have
the affect of causing spaces.live.com pages to load much more quickly?

When does Wave 4 beta begin?! <eg>

So you can get the full "Live experience". <eg>

Closing msnmsgr.exe does not exit it.
To exit it you have to right-click Exit the WLMessenger icon
in the Notification Area of the Taskbar.

For the same reason that running iexplore.exe -extoff is so much faster.
BTW you can eliminate just the msmsg.exe extension using
Tools, Manage Add-ons.

Hmm... looks like I have found another way to get rid of it. RIES. <eg>

Re: Problem with Windows Live Mail 2009

Hi,

Just to add, the "full experience" here is knowing the status of your contacts and the
ability to communicate with them via Messenger on each spaces page (as well as hotmail).

Debated use I suppose, I admit I've used it once or twice.

Re: Problem with Windows Live Mail 2009

Thanks for you comments, Jonathan. Yet another case of "opted-in by
default," whether the user wants it or not, I suppose.

I've proven time and again that the msnmsgr.exe Process being loaded has the
affect making any spaces.live.com page load so slowly that it appears to be
hanging. If I Exit [not Close, Robbie] WLMessenger and end the msnmsgr.exe
Process, the page loads quickly & completely.

@Robbie: There is not and never has been a msmsg.exe IE Add-on on this box,
but thanks for the hint: Disabling the WLMessenger ActiveX Control resolves
the behavior! Go, team!

Re: Problem with Windows Live Mail 2009

I and my contacts gave up....
In the time it took the spaces page to load(due to msnmsgr.exe instance running in the background) I have accomplished the
following:
- communicate via use of a cell phone to that same contact
- send mail to same contact on iPod Touch(email)
- logon to Hotmail with an iPod Touch and send mail to the same contact
- end process via Task Manager for msnmgr.exe and iexplorer.exe, reload Hotmail web ui and send mail
- walk 30 yds in each direction(to/back) from my rural mailbox and pickup the mail

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 with XP SP2, with DSL connection. I have
AVG antivirus free version, Comodo firewall, Spyware Blaster and Hive
Cleanup. All of these have run well together and I have had no
problems.

However for the past several weeks Live Messenger does not logon
automatically and I have to manual start it. I have included Live
Messenger to my firewall as acceptable sites but it still continues to
do so.

I logged on again tonight and once again Live Messenger failed to
automatically logon (this is not normal and started a few days ago) so
I clicked the icon and after cycling it came up with the following
message:

We were unable to sign you in to Windows Live Messenger possibly
because of a problems with the service or with your Internet
connection. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet. To let
us try and troubleshoot the problem, click the troubleshoot button.

Error Code 81000306

Troubleshoot Close Help

I clicked the Troubleshoot button and it gave me the following:

X IP
X Default Gateway
X IE Offline Setting
X Hosts File
X DNS
X Proxy Server
X Key Ports
Wirless

Then as Wireless was still processing it came up with the message that
Windows Live Messeger needs to close and with it the icon(this has
happened several times now).

However once closed I was able to click the Internet Explorer icon and
click on the I'm Messenger link to activate the Live Messenger in the
notification area.

I've run scans and it's found nothing.

So in an effort to resolve the problem I tried your tips for the
problem that I've been having and it found (1) WLMessenger ActiveX>
control [MSGSC8~1.DLL so I disabled it. However it didn't do anything
and the problem still remains.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Robert, I'd recommend that you post any/all followup in replies to your
original thread, please:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...61b3041f6361c6

PS: You had a similar problem back in September that "automagically" cleared
up:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...c3e9b857f3ab72

Perhaps you'd be wise to uninstall your current version of WLMessenger and
then install the newest version that was released last week?

Good luck.

Thanks for the advise. The only reason I posted it here was that I
wasn't getting any replies to my original post except one which said
there does seem to be any problem.

I don't think I can ask this without appearing stupid but just where
do I obtain the latest version? I've searched for it and I get all
sorts of versions from 8.0, 8.1, 8.5 and 9.0 Beta. As I understand it
the Beta version isn't thoroughly tested and from what I see on here
it still has problems so I'm a bit leary of downloading it. Also in
the download section it says mirror to mirror and the other says
build. Which one am I suppose to choose? They make this very confusing
for non-computer literate people; all I want is my Live Messenger to
work properly and sign in automatically. In addition, the problem I
had before just went away but it's come back, and I've also emailed
Microsoft about this particular problem but as yet haven't recieved a
reply.

Thanks,
