Setting connecting properties on Windows Mobile

Hi all,

I am having trouble to connect Live Messenger (WL version 10.6.0042.0300)
from my mobile device with Windows Mobile 6.1.
I am connected to e network with an HTTP proxy only and IE and other
networking (e.g. Windows Update, other browsers) work perfectly fine.

I searched quite a lot and here is the picture as I get it, questions are
below:

- WL Messenger on a full blown PC connects either through direct, HTTP proxy
OR SOCKS proxy. From the same network as the mobile device, connection
settings show that an HTTP proxy is used

- on the mobile device, the setting as above seems not to be available

- setting an (non-existent) SOCKS proxy config on the mobile device network,
shows WL messenger probe for a while, then reporting failure to connect

- removing the SOCKS proxy config, lets WM messenger fail right away

- using a different network with DIRECT connection available works fine

=> conclusion: WL messenger mobile demands a SOCKS proxy or direct, HTTP
proxy is not supported.

Questions:
- Can someone confirm that the above finding is correct?
- Can someone - please - tell me I am wrong AND tell me how to configure
HTTP proxy for WL messenger MOBILE?
- If I am right, any hint on whether it will be supported in the future,
Microsoft?

Many thanks in advance,
Tom
