| | Annoying Character Replacements Some people that send me messages have replaced various characters with images or animations. Is there any way to disable this so I can actually read the text I've been sent rather than having to decipher the hieroglyphics? |

| | Re: Annoying Character Replacements Greetings, Absolutely. Just open up any Messenger window and press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar. Choose the Tools menu, then Options and then the Messages category. Uncheck 'Show custom emoticons', click OK, then close and reopen any active conversation windows for the setting to become active. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "msnews.microsoft.com" <steve.thresher@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:u5UKmwvdJHA.3692@xxxxxx Quote: > Some people that send me messages have replaced various characters with images or > animations.
