Error when trying to start a video call

My mother is accross the US. We bought a web cam so that we could chat and
she could see the kids. It worked perfectly for 2 days, then I started
getting a message Messenger is not available right now. Please try again
later. (0x8ac70013). It also will not allow me to run setup on audo and
video. Any suggestions?

Re: Error when trying to start a video call

Greetings Charity,

Which version is it that you're using? If it's 2009, you might try uninstalling that and
trying 8.5 (2008) instead. To do so, just go to Add or Remove Programs or Programs and
Features, find Windows Live Essentials and choose Uninstall/Change to uncheck/remove
Messenger.

You can then download and run the following MSI (Microsoft Installer) file:

Your mother shouldn't have to change anything though.

Re: Error when trying to start a video call

Thanks! That fixed the problem. I just don't understand why it worked for
a couple of days and then quit, but I don't guess it really matters.

Thanks!

Re: Error when trying to start a video call

Hi Charity,

Trust me, I don't understand most of these video bugs with 2009 either. Annoyingly I've not
been personally affected so I've been limited to how much I can assist.

Re: Error when trying to start a video call

I too have the same problem. Mine has a twist though. My mother and I have
the same camera and 2009, her's works mine doesn't. Any ideas?
