| | "Allow automatic sign in" not working with 2009 Final I just updated to Windows Messenger Live Version 2009, Build 14.0.8050.1202. In Options, I have checked "Allow Automatic Sign In when Connected to the Internet." However, when starting Messenger, it does NOT automatically sign in; instead I must press the "Sign in" button every time. Is this a bug? |

| | Re: "Allow automatic sign in" not working with 2009 Final Greetings, There's a few possibilities here. First, if you're using MSN 9 or MSN Explorer, this can happen depending on some circumstances. Secondly, you might have an internet connection or some security software installed which is preventing Messenger from detecting or using the internet connection immediately after boot-up. Assuming that this is after boot-up where this problem is occurring, try shutting down Messenger (right-click its icon in the notification area, choose Exit) and then restart Messenger from the start menu to see if it works like that. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "ame" <replyto@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:Xns9B9DBE2009650gsxl683j0kdp@xxxxxx Quote: > I just updated to Windows Messenger Live Version 2009, Build > 14.0.8050.1202. Messenger is set to NOT start with Windows. When starting 9 manually, I always get the "sign in" button, it never starts automatically when double clicking the Windows Live Messenger icon like 8.5x did. |

The signed-in condition is not being passed on to the browser. Shutdown-restarting WL Messenger offers no change in behavior. | | Re: "Allow automatic sign in" not working with 2009 Final I've had this same problem since upgrading to the same build, here is what fixed it for me: There are two different checkboxes that govern automatic sign in(they should both cause they same behavior but don't-MS bug please fix-), the one under the "Tools" -"Options" - "Sign In" menu did not work for me and then the other one, which I stumbled across is on the sign in screen. You have to click the drop down arrow to the right of the Sign in as: status options to show the additional menu options of "Remember me", "Remember my password", and "Sign me in automatically". Checking the "Sign me in automatically" checkbox got it working for me. Now Live Messenger 14.0.8050.1202 is back to it previous behavior of automatically signing me in when it starts up. Hope this helps! | | Re: "Allow automatic sign in" not working with 2009 Final Hi, I still have this problem on WLM 2009(Build 14.0.8064.206) I have Windows XP SP3 with automatic updates on. I am not using MSN 9 or MSN Exporer. I have the problem even with firewall and antivirus turned off and with their connection drivers disabled. As far as I can understand this is a Windows XP default connection to a LAN, automatically configuring DNS and DHCP. The Windows firewall is also off. I can restart it if I don't boot after stopping it. In this case it logs in automatically. Yes, I have checked the "Sign me in automatically" checkbox on the Sign in screen previous to all tests, and it gets unchecked at reboot so I have to set it again before all test. The application does not log any event log error, stating why it is not working as intended. There are no event log errors or warnings that could possibly be related. The workstation is connected to the Internet through a 3COM OfficeConnect router, where my workstation is configured as DMZ host, but with ports 80,443,25,5222,5269 redirected. Cheers, Hugo |

| | Re: "Allow automatic sign in" not working with 2009 Final My situation is almost the same: WLM 2009 (xxx.206), Win XP Home SP3, no MSN. In my case, to start WLM I have to enter all info - email address, password, check all boxes remember and Sign-in. Next time, all over again. For some reason, the WLM does not retain any and all information... I tried all the suggestions I could find on this board to no avail... Is there any working solution to this problem with v. 2009? -- "HugoSthlm" wrote: Quote: > Hi, > > I still have this problem on WLM 2009(Build 14.0.8064.206) > > I have Windows XP SP3 with automatic updates on. > I am not using MSN 9 or MSN Exporer. > I have the problem even with firewall and antivirus turned off and with > their connection drivers disabled.
