Recording Sound Output

Hi, in the latest version of WLM it seems they've disabled the ability to set computer sound output as a recording option, including Realtek's 'Stereo Mix' and Creative's 'What U Hear'. I'm guessing this is to prevent people sending clips of copyrighted material, but often with the 'show what I'm listening to' feature people will ask you stuff like what's that sound like? and I don't see the harm in sending them a 15 second sample, which may (in the best circumstances) encourage them to purchase it themselves. My friend's an apsiring musician, and likes to send clips of his music for my opinion, and found this so frustrating he downgraded to an earlier version. Besides, I doubt anyone's going to send an entire song in voice clips and have someone reasemble it on the other end, especially when it's so easy to send higher quality files of copyrighted music anyway...
So my question is, does anyone know a way to circumvent this problem?
