Re: webcam issues, interresting link?

Greetings,

Interestingly, most of the latest reported problems with regards to video and Live Messenger
2009 usually mention it works fine in Skype.

These look like a new set of problems, but alas I can't say I'm surprised. I will say
however that my Communicate STX on my older PC performs rather horribly (Skype, Messenger,
doesn't matter). One thing that I've noticed does help however, in Vista, is to disable
glass when using Skype/Messenger and utilizing voice/video -- the performance is far better
on older PCs when they don't have to maintain glass.

Re: webcam issues, interresting link?

Hi,

The best experience with both Skype and WLM i got with the following
configuration:

installed programs: Xp prof. +Sp2, WLM, Skype, mcAfee (no more programs
installed)
hardware : compaq desktop, 500Mhz, 512Mb, and an old usb 1.1
logitech 3000 pro webcam

Got a very stable and clear connection for about 7 hrs, video chat.

With a Sony 1,6Ghz, 512Mb, usb2.0 card and webcam (logitech quickcam) it is
just a drama. 100% cpu
use, very slow working cam, and sound is terrible. Most of the time the
connections frozen.
(100% cpu use is a common problem with certain logitech cams, specially the
newest one according
to their own forum.

Today it is a little better, as i bought a MS LifeCam VX300.
The computer works faster, cam respond faster, and i got a longer working
connection with
WLM. But still frozen connection after 6 - 10 minutes. But need to test it
more to say that it
is good or no good.

Could it be the resolution that causes intermittent transmission, 640x480,
could it be to high?
