| Windows Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 | Windows Live Communications Platform So i do not have Windows Vista but in order to download the new windows live messenger you need certain OS I HAVE WINDOWS HOME EDITION Version 2002 Service Pack 3 which after reading i meet requirements to do so but everytime i log in i get error right away saying Windows Live Communications Platform has encountered an error, and it shuts down and very frustrating it worked once since i downloaded it 5 days ago and very frustrtating, not very computer savvy, so any advice on how to fix the problem i read a different forum but im not sure exactly what to do to perhaps fix my issue. If i ignore the error i can use the windows live messenger but doesn't allow me to add contacts it's weird again any inputs or ideas greatly appreicated before i get really frustrated! it's an awesome messenger I LOVE IT! ONLY IF IT WORKED! :@ |

| | Re: Windows Live Communications Platform Greetings, Since it did work at one point, to start troubleshooting this you might just remove the locally cached store of your contact information. To do so, shut down Messenger and delete the following folder: \Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts Where username is your Windows username. Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden if browsing by default, so to see them simply press the Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools, then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'. After click OK, they should appear with the other folders. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "xXMissyXx" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:e70f84db672dbf6955e7ed10bf09eae9@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | | Re: Windows Live Communications Platform I am having a similar problem. I have Vista and Windows Live Messenger. All of a sudden a few days ago I began getting this message: "There was a problem with Messenger Services (a temporary connectivity issue that has nothing to do with your computer) Please try again" This happens when messenger is running and I switch over to use IE 7. It then shuts down Messenger and if I want to use it I have to restart it...only to have it happen all over again. Will clearing the cache help me or is there some other issue. I am wondering if it is caused by a recent Microsoft update? -- Sue "gmastra" wrote: Quote: > > Hi , thank god I thought it was me getting these errors. > I have exactly the same issue. | | Re: Windows Live Communications Platform Hi Sue, I've only seen the error you've described in dealing with Hotmail web-based issues - although it appears it can happen in Messenger too. Is it completely consistent? In other words, does it *always* happen when you switch to IE? and if so, what do you do in IE when you get there (a specific site, etc.)? There's no harm in emptying the contacts cache however, so give it a shot. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Sassy Sue" <gsfeltner@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:336ABC3E-5204-43A3-AABB-B6BD72C6D6F5@xxxxxx Quote: > I am having a similar problem. | | Re: Windows Live Communications Platform I started getting this message a couple of days ago. I get it when press new message or try to open a newly received message. I have uninstalled & reinstalled. I have checked the connectivity settings on my computer. Nothing is working. |

| | Re: Windows Live Communications Platform I am still having the problem. In fact, it popped up when I clicked to read the posts in this discussion group. For me, now, it is just a big inconvenience as I have deleted Messenger which tells me it IS a Messenger Web based issue. I don't even know what that is. All I have to do is just click to make the message go away. It pops up several times a day. I do wish that someone from Microsoft could look into this issue and fix it for me and all others out there who are affected. -- Sue "Sassy Sue" wrote: Quote: > I am having a similar problem.
