Windows Live Messenger

Help please. Messenger signs in ok but I am unable to get into my inbox
anymore. Any thoughts on how to resolve the problem?

Re: Windows Live Messenger

Greetings Nick,

What exactly is happening when you try? As a hunch, are you using another browser other than
IE as your default? If so, it will just open in that browser now and will not automatically
sign you in.

Re: Windows Live Messenger

Jonathan

Thank you for your reply. I can sign in OK through IR. I can actually send
live messages what I cannot do is retrieve my inbox. If I press the button on
the Live Messenger pane and nothing happens. No error messages

I suspect it is a problem with the inbox. Have tried Scanpst but that does
not come up with any errors. Any thoughts!

Re: Windows Live Messenger

Hi Nick,

I'm a tad confused now to be honest, what exactly are you expecting to happen - are you
trying to make Outlook come up (hence the scanpst)?

More to the point, what used to happen when you clicked the inbox button in Messenger? In
2009 it'll try to load the default browser, or if available, Windows Live Mail (the desktop
application).

Re: Windows Live Messenger

Jonathan

Thanks for your reply. I am no computer expert so please bear with me!!

I have WLM on the desktop. The WLM pane opens up with the six buttons near
the top (open inbox on far left and change colour scehem on far right). For
the last few years I have simply pressed the far left button and the inbox
has appeared and off we go. I now press the button and no inbox appears. I
can however still send instant messages.

After looking at other forums I went into IE and under Tools - Internet
Options - Programs changed the email from live messenger to Outlook Express.
When I now press the button in the WLM pane I get the Outlook inbox and all
works. This is fine and I can survive happily with this except that the last
fours years emails that I have chosen to keep and which are in folders are
now inaccessible because they are in the live messenger inbox which I cannot
open.

Hope this makes sense and thanks for your patience!
