Since it sounds like you've already read the threads on this issue, so I won't reiterate what
you already know. As a starting point though, you should get in a support request with
Windows Live ID services as they will (eventually) fix this problem for you. To do so:

After clicking the link, choose any option from the FAQ on the left, then choose 'Get more
help' at the bottom right, and then 'Get more support'.
However, one thing you can do right now is ask contacts to manually add your new account to
your contact list. This will immediately have both of you appear on each others lists and
your communication can continue.
