Messenger 2008 Virus: HELP!

Last week, someone sent me a message saying "is this your photo?" with a link.
I clicked on it, & now after i sign on, i can't send any messages or open
them either.
Others tell me I'm sending the same link to them.
Can anybody help solve this?
I'm using Live Messenger 2008..
I would greatly appreciate it!

Re: Messenger 2008 Virus: HELP!

All you need is a good AV program?
What are you using?
By now all AV programs should be able to handle this.

If not, check http://www.free-av.com
That's a very good AV software.

The virus is probably named fukker.exe

Re: Messenger 2008 Virus: HELP!

Greetings,

Unfortunately it's not that simple. There are literally thousands of these types of
viruses/worms and the vast majority of anti-virus scanners out there can't find them as their
actual life is quite short (since the links get shut down).

Besides running scanners, the vast majority of these worms are simply running executables
which you can identify just by perusing the Task Manager processes tab. If you're not
familiar enough with Windows or your system to identify them, then you may want to ask a
friend or someone similar to directly assist you in locating and deleting this worm.
