| | Re: Installation rolls bck Ok almost all is well after performing all of those manual little installs. But! Whenever I try to start Windows Live Mail, I get the following error message: "Windows Live Mail could not be started. It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory." I have tried uninstall/reinstall, repair, uninstall and folder delete/reinstall to no avail. I have 330 GB of free space left and 4 GB of ram running at 5% capacity. I'm about to switch to Mozilla Thunderbird this is so frustrating. By the way Jonathon, thank you for your help thus far. |

| | Re: Installation rolls bck Thanks Jonathan, that's seems to have gotten me up and running after problems with the Windows Live installer... 0x80004004 error - Microsoft Visual Runtime aborted, and Windows Live Call not being able to write a value key in my registry. Any ideas on those? Thanks again )"Jonathan Kay [MVP]" wrote: Quote: > Greetings Steve, > > As an easy starting point, try manually installing Messenger by simply downloading and > running the MSI file: > http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3qfe/wlm.asp > > If that installs without an error (it'll just install and disappear if it's successful), then > install the Communications Platform: > http://messenger.jonathankay.com/red...e/contacts.asp > > If that installs correctly, you can now use Messenger by running it from the Start menu, > Windows Live folder. | | Re: Installation rolls bck Greetings Ashley, If Messenger is running, then you didn't need the Visual Studio Runtime files and Windows Live Call is practically useless (and in some cases, a nuisance), so you're really good to go. Just a note that the latest version is at http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3qfe2/wlm.asp (contacts stays the same). -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Ashley Smith" <Ashley Smith@newsgroup> wrote in message news:320710B5-81CA-4B8C-B2C8-C28683BD6E1F@newsgroup Quote: > Thanks Jonathan, that's seems to have gotten me up and running after problems > with the Windows Live installer... 0x80004004 error - Microsoft Visual > Runtime aborted, and Windows Live Call not being able to write a value key in > my registry. > > Any ideas on those? > > Thanks again )> > "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" wrote: > Quote: >> Greetings Steve, >> >> As an easy starting point, try manually installing Messenger by simply downloading and >> running the MSI file: >> http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3qfe/wlm.asp >> >> If that installs without an error (it'll just install and disappear if it's successful), >> then >> install the Communications Platform: >> http://messenger.jonathankay.com/red...e/contacts.asp >> >> If that installs correctly, you can now use Messenger by running it from the Start menu, >> Windows Live folder.
