Live Call stopped working

Using Vista Home Premium.

I installed LifeChat 1.0 and Windows Live Messenger, paid Telefonica, and made some phone calls. There is still plenty of credit there.

Now when I try to call, Windows Live Call says:

"Your account capability cannot be authorized. Please try again.

Try making the call again. If you are still unable to make a call, contact customer support. 80ef0193"

In Messenger, when I go to Tools > Options > Connection, and test TCP, it says "Success, you can connect to the Windows Live Messenger Service".

I tried calling again many times, generating the same message,
repaired Messenger, uninstalled and reinstalled LifeChat and Messenger,
can't find the alleged customer support,
tried many internet searches without any useful result,
can't find a more relevant forum than this,
and have no idea what to do next.

Re: Live Call stopped working

Greetings,

I believe Messenger support will actually assist you with this one. I've not actually been
part of this particular problem before, so I'm unsure what exactly will be done.

You can get there by going to:
http://support.live.com/default.aspx...ey=wlmessenger

After choosing Windows Live Messenger 2009, choose any topic on the side, then choose the
'Get more help' link in the corner and then choose the 'Get support' link.

Re: Live Call stopped working

Thank you Jonathan.

Following your directions, I found the support page and sent this question to them.

Re: Live Call stopped working

After finding and emailing the obscure Windows Live Technical Support, they referred me to the even more obscure Windows Live Messenger Support Group by saying ..."To ensure your concern gets resolved in a timely manner, I would be forwarding your issue to them so they can assist you immediately."

I don't know what "I would be forwarding" means exactly (do I do it, or are they doing it), but I have heard nothing more and cannot find the elusive Windows Live Messenger Support Group, whatever that is and wherever that can be found. I asked where to find this Group, but have had no reply.

Meantime I have had to use Skype which has given me no problem and will be my provider of choice after I use up my Telefonica credit (assuming Windows Live Call eventually works again).

Microsoft has again succeeded in wasting many hours of my time.

Who knows if I will ever get an explanation. At least in this case, there is a working and competitive alternative to the wealthy and inconsiderate Microsoft .
