Hello!

Windows Live Mail Version 2009, Build 14.0.8064.0206

I have problems with the Web Cam. (I see my picture in the wrong
direction /mirror)
With the old version and with the new version.

Have somebody a list of items, which points are new and maybe better.

Regards Karin

Greetings,

The mirror effect is actually a feature and unfortunately you can't turn it off. Your
contacts will see it non-mirrored however.

Are you looking for a list of items in general, or just with video support? If the latter,
640x480 support was added for Full screen mode and there's the webcam display pictures.

I went into the webcam settings and turned on mirroring there. So, I
then saw the "real life" version (It's a LifeCam, so this is appropriate).

Unfortunately, my *contacts* now see me in mirror image, so ask me how
much it cost me to have the cosmetic surgery to move the mole to the
opposite side of my face.

This just proves that two wrongs don't make a right.

Hi Steve,

Yes, the "mirror" is Messenger's work so you won't be able to workaround it that way. Most
webcam drivers have their own mirror function, like the LifeCam does, but that just makes it
worse as you noted.

Previous versions of Messenger had a setting to turn this function off, but that setting no
longer exists in the UI nor is it read in the registry in 2009.

Why was this function taken away?

And are there any plans to add it back to future versions of messenger? It
just bugs me to see myself mirrored when I'm using my webcam in messenger.

Greetings,

Supposedly it's a feature. I have no idea.

I can tell you I complained about it to the horses mouth, that's about all
