Vista - WLM 8.5 won't install

I installed the Windows Live Suite, and after seeing that most of
the suite members didn't meet my needs, I uninstalled those that
most offended me. Among them was WLMessenger 2009. When I tried
to reinstall 8.5 (version 2008), I get an error that says that
the suite hadn't been installed and then the 8.5 installer quits.
I tried the same with version 8.0 and got the same results. How
can I circumvent this error and get the program I like to install
for me? Thanks to any of you out there who can help me with this
problem!

Try installing directly from the Microsoft Installer (MSI) file by downloading and running
the following:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/wlm85.asp

If there's an actual problem with the Messenger part of the setup, it will tell you,
otherwise you'll find it under the Windows Live folder in the start menu.
