Precent Multiple Instances

WinXP, Live Messenger 2009

This new version of Messenger appears to permit multiple instances to be
loaded, although not logged in. Any way to prevent this?

Thanks.

Re: Precent Multiple Instances

Greetings,

By default this isn't the expected behavior.

This should only happen if you have either:
1) Patched your client for this functionality
2) Turned this feature on in Messenger Plus (assuming this is installed). It can be
turned off under the Plus! Preferences' Customize tab
3) You have set the registry key to allow this to happen, the key is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Live, and it is MultipleInstances, a DWORD.
