Greetings,
Although I could be wrong, this is the first I've heard of any "safe mode".
What you might try instead is to install Messenger manually. To do so, download and run the
MSI file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3qfe/wlm.asp
If that installs without an error (it'll just install and disappear if it's successful), then
install the Communications Platform:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/red...e/contacts.asp
If you're Vista and all of this worked up to this point, you can now try running Messenger
from the start menu. If you are using Windows XP, then you'll need to install two more
components, just the same as above:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3rc/dw20.asp
and
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3rc/msvcrt.asp
If you're still having trouble with any of these, the exact error that you're seeing would be
very helpful.
