| 32bit | Messenger custom emoticons I was able to copy and transfer my custom emoticons on my new computer. However, when I go to "create" them and pull up the location it is unable to find them. Maybe because the only options are for JPEG, bitmap and other common files and not the *.id2 files. Any suggestions? |

| | Re: Messenger custom emoticons Greetings, ID2 files are just the metadata for each custom emoticon. The real emoticon image itself are the DT2 files. Assuming you're using the same Live ID address, there is no reason to manually add them using this method. Simply copy them back to the same location you copied from them on the new PC. For reference, that location should be: On XP: \Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons and on Vista: \Users\username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live ID e-mail address. Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools, then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'. After click OK, they should appear with the other folders. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Leopardbow" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:49f3c75ad2dec098c44a6b705d82c286@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | | Re: Messenger custom emoticons Hi, If they've been copied to the correct location, they just show up -- you don't have to add anything. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Leopardbow" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:c63a43f743258cc0a0f082e2d91ee9b5@xxxxxx-gateway.com...
