Live Messenger 2009 fails to sign in without an error code

I've recently upgraded to the latest version of live messenger (build
14.0.8064.206). Previously everything had been working fine but since
upgrading it will not allow me to sign in. The wierd thing is that it doesnt
give me an error message or error code or anything. When i type in my
username and password it usually just flashes and returns me to the sign in
box. Most of the time i dont even get the sign in animanimation.

So far i've tried checking the time and date, re-installing, checked
firewalls, checked Anti virus, entered the .reg settings using the command
prompt and and deleted the cotacts cache. NOTHING changes it. Any ideas?

Greetings,

As a quick test, could you create a new account within Windows and then log out and into that
one? Then start up Messenger in that Windows account and try to sign in there.

I too am having the same problem. I was using an older version and was
prompted to upgrade and I accepted. Now I keep getting sent back to login
screen. Hopefully this issue will be resolved.

RE: Live Messenger 2009 fails to sign in without an error code

Hi. I had the same problem and ended up having to turn the cookie control off
in ZA Security Suite to resolve the problem. If I turn cookie control back on
once messenger is open it is OK but once signed out I have to go through the
same procedure to log back in.

Im having the same exact problem. I get no error code. The login screen just pops back up. I can log in from any other machine but noone can log in from my machine. Any answers yet? I have also uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and ran the registry fixes.

I've been having the same problem with the error 8100030d. I've tried all the solutions this far mentioned, nothing seems to be working.

Re: Live Messenger 2009 fails to sign in without an error code

First, let me say that this is my first time on the forum and I hope I am posting this properly: it said to use the quote button. If not, my apologies.

I'm having the same issues as others. I recently updated to the 2009 version of live messenger (build 14.0.8064.206) on my desktop; previous versions worked fine. Also, the new version works well, so far, on my laptop.

In my case, before installing the update, I thought the problem was just Windows way of telling me it's time to install an update. In the past, I've had the exact same problem--again, with NO error message--and all I had to do was perform the update to make it go away. In this case, though, it is the update itself that seems to be the problem.

What it looks like for me: my Live Messenger does not auto load upon restarting PC; when I click on the icon, I get the hourglass for about 3 seconds, then nothing happens. I too have tried EVERYTHING to access the program, but nothing works.

The only way to access my email/contacts/calendar/etc. is to go to the Windows Live Toolbar and click on the "Windows Live" button (actually it's the rectangle on the far left of the toolbar before the search box) and click on that. What I get is "Qwest Mail by Windows LIve" which is neither my Hotmail account or my Windows Live Mail account! (My internet provider is Qwest ).

I can at least function at my desktop when using Qwest Mail, but it is lacking many of the features I need, plus I need to correct whatever errors are causing the problem.

I'm an old, disabled lady and I have some problems with my cognition/memory, so if there is a way to respond in plain speech and not computerease, that would help me so much.

Thanks.
