Vista - WLM 2009 upgrade disabled winks, nudges als HiYo winks

After accepting the upgrade offer to WLM 2009 from a perfectly working 8.5
plus I have lost the winks and nudge buttons in the messenger window and the
tools option has winks greyed out, although they can be found with the plus
option but not sent.
The HiYo toolbar which integrated properly into 8.5 was updated to
accommodate the changes in WLM 9 and does not function anymore, eben with
correct flash player installed.
Aside from features which seem to be unnexxessary, this version of WLM also
connects itself to some smiley websites without being asked to do so.
Any suggestions to make this work properly?
