wrong Language in WLM

My home location is the USA and default language is English. Yet all my WLM
option screens and profile settings for other contacts that I view (including
many of my own) are in Chinese. How do I change this?

Re: wrong Language in WLM

Greetings,

Where do you have this "home location" set? Messenger will make use of the "home location"
set in your Windows Live ID profile, which you can edit here:
https://account.live.com/EditProf.aspx

For the language in the actual application option dialogs (not web based options), you'll
need to uninstall Messenger from Add or Remove Programs/Programs and Features in the Control
Panel (for 2009, this will be listed under Windows Live Essentials) and then reinstall using
the correct language version.

For 2009, you can find that here:
http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...2-9b99c75d7993

and 2008 (8.5):
http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...5-0487bd5e84ef

Make note of the language selector on this page to make sure you download the correct one.

Re: wrong Language in WLM

Hello Jonathan,
I uninstalled Messenger 2009, and re-installed - with English language.

When I open Messenger, and sign in, everything is in English
Then I go to: "Change Contact List Layout" - and it's all in English.
When I choose the option: "What's new list options", all the text is then
in Chinese.

Any other thoughts please.

Richard

Re: wrong Language in WLM

One additional item Jonathan,
On anyone's profile that I try to see, it is always in Chinese, even for
English speaking contacts

Re: wrong Language in WLM

Hi Richard,

What's new settings are on the web and therefore covered by the locale in your Live ID, as
mentioned in my first post. That's where it's deciding to use Chinese.
