| Vista Ultimate x64 | MSN Key port problems Ive been having problems with being disconnected the last few months. It occurred when i used WLM9 and now with WLM8.5. What happens is i am signed in, and randomly, i will be disconnected and get a key ports error in troubleshooting. This problem can usually fix itself in a few minutes but sometimes doesn't. I was wondering if this was a vista problem or an msn problem, and if you could help me either way? This has finally started getting annoying, after it disconnected me in some important convos. Help is appreciated |

| | Re: MSN Key port problems Greetings Rurik, Sounds more like a networking problem to me. If this is in a home environment and you're using a router, you may need to power cycle the router. Additionally, you may want to try turning off Vista's auto tuning networking feature. To turn off this feature, open up an elevated command prompt and type the following: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled If you're unsure what I mean by an "elevated command prompt", this explains it: http://www.kombitz.com/2007/02/14/vi...ommand-prompt/ -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Rurik" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:dcf05efcdb117ce5a7ae122179c9ee1a@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: MSN Key port problems Ok I will try that. I myself dont think its networking, because i exited msn and didnt get a single disconnection for the whole 5 hours i was exited, where usually i would have been disconnected at least once. People have had problems with key ports on msn before, but i trust this forum more than others. Will leave a reply with what happens if it isnt fixed over the next couple of days. UPDATE: This did not solve my problem sorry to say, any other suggestions? Greetings Rurik, Sounds more like a networking problem to me. If your whole internet connection is being disconnected when Messenger is running (which I have heard of before), one fix that usually can help is to upgrade the firmware in any modem or router devices you might have installed as it's usually a bug there. | Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: MSN Key port problems No worries mate, sorry if i made it a bit hard to understand. I will check the firmware, havnt updated in a few months. Probaly not connected, but since i used the CMD string my laptop no longer connects to my modem automatically when i turn it on. I need to reset my router every time for it to connect now. So i would apprieciate you telling me how to re enable the autotuning, cause im not entirely sure what autotuning is. Yours sincerely, Rurik Hi, I think I misinterpreted your original message. My internet stopped working properly, plus my system restore doesnt go back much before that restore. Thanks for trying though. I will have a look around and see if i can find anything that works, and will post the awnser on here if i find it.
