I'm trying to uninstall Messenger so I can reinstall a clean version
but all I get is
cannot access

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs
but when I look in the registry I don't have HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32
Just HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
any help would be appreciated

what i would do is mate ..
is download ccleaner/Quicksys RegCleaner ..
and when installed cclener click ..
registry on the side panel see if that works ..
maybe it will ..as for Quicksys RegCleaner ..thats fixed my problem before now fixing the problem in the registry maybe this will help mate

What it really means is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs

take a look at the permissions for that key.

Thanks for the translation of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32. I was able to use this to fix an Adobe updater install (8.1.4) that was not working.

I kept on getting a 1402 error saying the specific key in question did not have the correct rights set up. I was able to find the key and correct everything thanks to the above!! Good Stuff, Johnathan!!!!
