| | Cannot reinstall Live Essentials b/c can't uninstall. Hi All, I tried to uninstall Live Essentials and all it does is the screen blinks and nothing happens. When I try to log into Live Messenger, typing my ID is very slow, then it says, "We can't sign you in to Windows Live Messenger" with an Error code: 8004888d. I've tried to download a fresh copy but it says that, "Couldn't install programs" with Error: 0x800b0004. Any idea what I can do to fix this? I'm running Web Messenger now. |

| | Re: Cannot reinstall Live Essentials b/c can't uninstall. Greetings, You can try to manually uninstall Messenger by clicking Start, then Run, pasting in: msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C} and clicking OK. If you're using Vista, copy/paste the above line into the Start menu's Start Search field and press Enter on your keyboard. After that you can go ahead and install 8.5 by running this Microsoft Installer file: http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/wlm85.asp -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "aaah842" <aaah842@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:9365F38C-53B3-4A5F-8E77-36091734A31C@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi All, > > I tried to uninstall Live Essentials and all it does is the screen blinks > and nothing happens. I tried your link again and it says that I can't uninstall something that isn't there. Not sure what other info I can give you. Any help is appreciated. Leo |

Unfortunately, after installing 8.5, the same thing happened. I get the message, "Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Error code: 80048883" Any other ideas? Thanks.
